You have likely heard about the expanding life coaching field but have wondered:
“What is the difference between coaching and therapy?” “Is a coach going to have any credentialing? “Why pay for a coach when therapy is often covered by insurance?”
As both a coach and a licensed mental health therapist I believe I am uniquely qualified to answer these questions! Before making the transition to a coach, I was a mental health therapist for 12 years. I worked with troubled youth (and their parents) in government run juvenile corrections, a private therapeutic boarding school and in an outpatient therapy office. I have worked with a lot of different family complications, diagnosis, trauma and other emotional/behavioral issues. The therapy field is the right answer for so many that are struggling. I have loved the experiences within the therapy field!
So why do I feel coaching is the better option for some people....and who are those people? While therapy is needed, it is for the individual struggling to function while coaching is aimed at the individual striving for growth. The formal “sit down in an office” setting and the boundaries needed for some clients within therapy are not needed by everyone! The needed caution within therapy comes with a lot of rules that limit creativity and depth of relationship. As a coach I get to offer an open door policy allowing the client mid-week texting or calls for accountability check-ups or discussion about difficult situations that arise within the week. Intrinsic Coaching does not limit you to one session a week! Further, when a professional isn’t spending so much time filling out extensive documentation required by insurance providers, they are left with significantly more time to improve their knowledge and increase their availability! Consequently, I believe you will find the coaching field to be more alive with ideas, drive and growth! Further questions? Click on the free consultation button below.
Our teen is destroying the peace within our home!
Parenting is so much more difficult than anyone ever said it would be! You have undoubtedly spent hours wondering what you could do better to reach your kid. You might have thought all you need is for their behavior to improve and life would be bliss! Helping parents before helping kids seems like a lost idea in our society. Work with Intrinsic and learn a better way to find "bliss". There's a lot more within your power than you think!
My parents nag me about everything!
Youth is the best time to teach life habits. If your teenage youth is ready to confront results they don't like and take accountability then they are perfect for coaching! They will learn skills within self awareness and habit building that will change the trajectory of their lives forever! Not all youth are ready for coaching. Many times witnessing a shift in a parent is all it takes to convince them they want more than their current choices will bring.
I'm finally an adult but it's not what I thought it would be.
You struggle to be consistent. Your parents have helped many times in the past but this struggle just seems different. You feel lost in all of the ideas of what you could become.
Finding confidence, direction and traction in life can be jump started through the help of a coach to help you prioritize your desires, strengthen motivation, and find joy in finally keeping your goals!
Intrinsic Principles on Effort
Finding balance between the improvement you crave and the peace you need is difficult when faced with the reality of the limits of your effort. No one can be perfect in their effort, but that doesn't mean we can't strive for progress! How can your effort become more TORTOISE like?

- I- Inspired (Educated, Value Based, Spiritually Connected, Open Minded)
- S- Self-Compassionate (Self-loving and Forgiving of shortcomings)
- E- Empathetic (Observant of others, Love filled, Listening, Lifting, Giving)
